Resolution

Hi everyone. I am resolving to make at least 1 post on this blog every day. BTW, watch out for some changes to the ep guide.

Whodunnit?

Filming is underway for Series Four of Doctor Who, with Catherine Tate reprising her role as Donna, the runaway bride featured in last year's Christmas Special.

The start of the new series will see Donna tracking down the Time Lord during an alien emergency in modern-day London. The couple are destined to experience a series of wonderful adventures throughout the new series including meeting one of Doctor Who's most popular aliens, The Ood in a brand new episode, Planet of The Ood.

Catherine Tate said: "I am delighted to be returning to Doctor Who. I had a blast last Christmas and look forward to travelling again through time and space with that nice man from Gallifrey."

Donna and The Doctor will also be travelling through time for an encounter with the legendary murder mystery novelist, Agatha Christie, played by Jekyll star Fenella Woolgar. Fenella will be joined by The Good Life actress Felicity Kendal, who will star as Lady Clemency Eddison.

"What a brilliant idea that Agatha Christie and Doctor Who should meet!," noted Matthew Prichard, Agatha Christie's grandson. "Two characters whose contribution to British entertainment is absolutely unrivalled. As far as I know my grandmother, Agatha Christie, never saw Doctor Who, but I am sure she would have been intrigued, excited and above all flattered by all this attention in 2007."

Doctor Who's executive producer and head writer, Russell T Davies comments: "Visiting Agatha Christie has been on my wish-list for ages now, and for the Doctor, it's a real meeting of minds! Viewers can expect many more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
Blackadder and Notting Hill Actor Tim McInnerny will also guest star later in the series.
Freema Agyeman who has played Martha Jones, The Doctor's companion throughout the critically acclaimed third series will return to the show to join The Doctor and Donna mid series.

Music vid.

That is my first music video! It made me feel all happy...

R.I.P.

R.I.P. Helen MacDonald. As you all probably know, David Tennant's mum passed away on Sunday after battling with bowel cancer.

Even though the funerals just up a road for me, I urge all readers close to it not to go to the funeral. The man's mother has just died. Pay him some respect.

Finally...

Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), Gwen (Eve Myles), Owen (Burn Gorman), Tosh (Naoko Mori) and Ianto (Gareth David-Lloyd) all return as the close-knit team of investigators solving alien and human crimes as they delve into the underworld of modern day Cardiff.

The high-octane storylines, filmed in and around Cardiff, include Torchwood's encounter with a rogue Time Agent; a tragic time-slip from World War One; and a memory-thief who uncovers long-forgotten secrets among the entire team

As well as Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman the series will see appearances by James Marsters who starred as Spike, the punk-goth vampire, in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel and Alan Dale who is currently appearing in Ugly Betty as Bradford Meade. Dale is also well known for his roles in The O.C., Lost, The West Wing and as Jim Robinson in the Australian hit soap Neighbours.

Dale described himself as "thrilled to be working on Torchwood and delighted to be in England again. I am a huge fan of British television drama."

Marsters, who will appear in the opening episode of the series, says his character is "naughty and a bit of a psychopath."

Creator and Executive Producer Russell T Davies said: "filming is well underway in Cardiff, and we're aiming to make the show bigger and bolder than ever, as we move to our new home on BBC Two.

"It's too early to start giving things away, but we've got some amazing guest stars, fearsome new aliens, and compelling new storylines that will push the Torchwood team further than ever before."

The 13-part series is written by Chris Chibnall, Catherine Tregenna, Helen Raynor, James Moran, Joseph Lidster, Peter J Hammond, JC Wilsher and Matt Jones.

Guess who's the new companion! Catherine Tate joins th TARDIS crew for all of Series 4, reprising her role as Donna Noble. What has Donna been doing in her time off? Why does she change her mind? I liked the characxter of Donna. I would've reffered Sally, but I like Donna. Any thoughts?

Script Doctors!

The writers for series 4 have been announced! Lined up are:

  • Russell T. Davies: He will be writing the XMas special and 4 episodes.

  • Gareth Roberts: He is back for a single episode. Probably carrying on from the end of The Shakespeare Code.
  • Tom McRae: He is writing a single episode. It may be the "technology gone bad" one.
  • Steven Greenhorn: He is writing a single episode. It may be the "sciency" one.
  • James Moran: He is writing one episode and is writing for TW series 2.
  • Keith Temple: He is also writing 1 episode.

And now for TW Series 2. Not much on these:

  • Chris Chibnall

Please strap yourself in, as we go to Utopia!

OK, rubbish title, but I'm in one of those moods. Now, sorry for pinching your post jackharkness, but this sounds so good!

Is that a result of Jack's experiences in the new series of Doctor Who?

Jack does get to resolve a lot of his issues in these three episodes. You find out a huge amount about him, including a huge secret that you could never ever possibly imagine. When you discover what it is, your jaw will actually hit the floor! I jumped around the room when I read the script. Then I ran into David's trailer screaming, "Oh my God!" He'd been teasing me for days because he'd already seen it, and he just said, "It's really cool, isn't it?"

Doesn't that sound good? Oh, and Martha's blog has a new post: www.myspace.com/marthajonesuk

And a note about the Torchwood episode guide. It is a big list of what I want to happen, based on what I know about Torchwood Series 2. IT IS NOT OFFICIAL OR CONFIRMED IN ANY WAY! Just so that you know.

Paul.

Stuff

Ok, first point here. The BBC DW Website has been updated. It now includes a prologue for 42, a new trailer and 2 pop quizes.

Now, everyone else seems to be reporting on this so I will too. Ages ago, Torchwood.TV reported about an artice on Sci-Fi Pulse about Jack returning. Here is an excerpt:

BTW, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

“First off as already stated the episode starts in Cardiff Bay where the Doctor and Martha set down to use the spatial rifts energy in order to recharge the Tardis.” Phibes revealed.
“Obviously this episode picks up where the finale of Torchwood left off as far as the fate of Captain Jack is concerned anyway.”

“While the Doctor and Martha are enjoying a quick banter about Cardiff we will see Captain Jack running and shouting after the Doctor only to barely latch onto the Tardis as it dematerialises, this one moment promises to be a rather impressive CGI shot which is illustrated by the script excerpt included below.”

FX: Time Vortex

CU Captain Jack, yelling in agony, his head against the wooden Tardis door –

FX: CUT TO WIDER – and he’s clinging on, yelling, to the outside of the Tardis as it hurtles through the vortex

Now that sounds good! They are supposed to go to the year 100,000,000,000,000.

THE DOCTOR: Strictly speaking, the ending’s way off. This is more like, the end of life in the universe.

MARTHA: So what’s out there?

THE DOCTOR: I don’t know

MARTHA: Ooh, say that again, that’s rare.

The DOCTOR: Not even the Time Lords came this far. It’s all just theory. We should leave. We should go. We should really, really go…

And he grins, grabs his coat, he & Martha run out.

"While there aside from meeting Jack they encounter two distinct races of humanity. One known as the Futurekind and the other who are normal human beings. It is this aspect which is the central mystery of the episode."

Next is a bit of banter between Jack and The Doctor.

"Indeed, it turns out that our friend Captain Jack was able to utilise a primitive form of Time Travel, however it is far from a Tardis, and below is some quite funny banter between Jack and the Doctor about our good captains chosen way of time travel."

(Script Excerpt below of banter between The Doctor & Captain Jack).

EXT. MOORLAND – NIGHTTHE DOCTOR, MARTHA & JACK – MARTHA with medical satchel, Jack with rucksack – striding along, heading up a gradual incline. The Doctor ahead, trying not to join in. All on the hoof, rattling it off, fast. To Martha –

CAPTAIN JACK: …so there I was, stranded in the year two – hundred – one – hundred, ankle deep in Dalek dust, he goes off without me, but I had this –

(his wrist – strap)

I used to be a Time Agent, it’s called a Vortex Manipulator, he’s not the only one who can time travel –

THE DOCTOR: Excuse me, that’s not time travel. It’s like, I’ve got a sports car, you’ve got a Space Hopper.

MARTHA: Oh, boys and their toys.

CAPTAIN JACK: All right, so I bounced, I thought, Twenty – first century, that’s the best place to find the Doctor. Except I got it a little bit wrong, arrived in 1880, and this thing burnt out, so it was useless –

THE DOCTOR: Told you!

CAPTAIN JACK: - then I had to live through the entire twentieth century, waiting to find the version of you that would coincide with me –

MARTHA: But that makes you more than a hundred years old.

CAPTAIN JACK: And looking good, don’t you think? So, I went to the Time Rift, cos I knew you’d come back to refuel, until finally, I get a signal on this thing, detecting you – (his rucksack)
- and here we are!

Of course as the episode progresses we see plenty of locations ranging from missile silos to quarries. Yes you heard right. Quarries, but as the above script excerpts illustrate the episode will answer a fair few questions regarding what happened to Captain Jack after the Doctor and Rose departed for earth after he regenerated. So well worth viewing this episode, which is, number 11 in the running order and is titled Utopia

So I gotta say, this looks good!

Sarah Jane is fascinated by Bubbleshock, a strangely addictive organic drink that is taking the world by storm. She is almost oblivious to the arrival of her new neighbour, Maria, a young girl starting a new life with her father. Maria becomes intrigued by the strange goings on at Sarah Jane's house but, before she can investigate, she's whisked away by her new friend, Kelsey, to the brightly coloured, but sinister, Bubbleshock factory.

Site news.

I'm scrapping both my feature things. I really don't have time. The blog will still be acitve, though!
-
From DigitalSpy:

Tonight I am going to perform a miracle. It will change the way in which humans devour spoilers. Oh okay, that’s slightly over-egging the pudding, but for our own little experiment you’ll find that not one but two of the following paragraphs are utter codswallop (much underrated word by the way). So read on for some devilishly teasery morsels of information about the goings on at Lazarus Laboratories, or LazLabs if you want extra street cred…

Remember The Doctor’s love/hate relationship with Rose’s mother Jackie Tyler? At first she makes a not so subtle advance towards him, but before long she’s giving him a strong slap across his 900 year old face. Well, The Doctor’s initial encounter with Martha’s mother Francine closely resembles one of the two above reactions from Jackie. It’s fair to say that our favourite Time Lord definitely makes Francine wet…

The Saxon undercurrents are stronger than ever in this episode. Not only do we learn the guy’s first name, but we also discover his less than friendly stance towards The Doctor.Martha’s brother Leo makes an appearance. Along with receiving concussion, he’s also recruited by Saxon’s agents to keep tabs on his sister and her time-travelling friend. The reward for supplying this information is something out of this world and every red-blooded male’s fantasy…

The Doctor professes to be a fan of ‘nibbles’. He devours one with such relish that you can imagine a special Vol-Au-Vent storeroom in the Tardis that he’d never dream of jettisoning (unlike the swimming pool).

The Doctor and Martha become trapped in Lazarus’s age-defying machine, which is then switched on and regresses them to their youth. In a brief moment we discover what the Time Lord looked like at the start of his first incarnation, using CGI to resemble a young William Hartnell. Before the process can be finalised, The Doctor deactivates the machine and is returned to normal along with Martha. The experiment by Richard Lazarus not only gives him a more youthful look, but it activates dormant genes within the human DNA – to horrific effect.

Lazarus acts rather like Florence the Plasmavore from ‘Smith and Jones’ at times, although he demonstrates less etiquette by not even using a straw. What bad manners!

Post the 2 things that you think are wrong in the comments section. I'm going now coz Friends is on. Enjoy your Doctor Who Saturday!

Help

First things first, the title is because people need help. So first...
-
Raxxie's blog, Doctor Who.TV is closing today. If possible, could anyone help him with contributions?
-
I'll help you now, so here's a guide to all the abbrievations I use:

DW: Doctor Who
TW: Torchwood
SJA: The Sarah Jane Adventures
LoM: Life On Mars
A2A: Ashes To Ashes
-
And finally I need help. I would like to know if anyone know where I could get, or could make me, a map of the Hub. I wanted to make it in the Sims 2 but couldn't without this. So thanks in advance.
-
Oh, and some news. I think i know what the "special surprise" is that's promised after The Lazarus Experiment! I think it's a political broadcast by Harold Saxon himself!

Hello

Hello again. I'm back from my holiday. It rocked. Drew some parallels to Doctor Who, as well...

Now some news. Over at Sarah-Jane.tv, there are some fantastic set photos.

Digital Spy has a good article about upcoming stuff on the DW website:

The BBC is launching an online interactive Doctor Who comic book that will enable fans to take their very own trip of a lifetime in the Tardis alongside the Time Lord.

"For the very first time, fans of the show will be able to create their own magical Doctor Who adventure and bring it to life,” says the sci-fi drama’s supremo Russell T Davies, who will also offer online guidance to the participants on how to construct their journey. Users will also be able to upload a photograph of themselves to the site for use in the comic.

“The amazing Comic Maker will allow fans to interact with every aspect ofthe exciting world of Doctor Who,” added Davies. “This is your chance to be the Doctor's companion and take on the Daleks in your very own Doctor Who comic."

A comic constructed by one of the cast and crew will be featured on the website every month, starting with Davies, in addition to awards for the best comics created.

The exciting new initiative is set to be launched today (Friday) on the www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho site.

For more Doctor Who news, reviews and spoilers click here.

Well that looks fun!

That's all for now, folks. But remember, tomorrow, the Daleks will be back...

50th Post Bonanza

Alas, I have succumbed to everyone else and started doing "50th Post Bonanzas"! OK, I'll start off with pretty videos...

And this:

And the last one is above.

I will add more to this later.

Vesus...

Well, a while back I said that every Wednesday I would post something about "The Spin-Offs That Could Have Been." Well, I never. But I intend to start along with my new feature for Saturdays. Vs! I'll take 2 characters and compare them. To start off:
THE 9TH DOCTOR VS. THE 10TH DOCTOR!

He had black humour.
He is "a smiley Doctor :-)"!
He introduced Jack Harkness.
He introduced Torchwood.
He introduced Rose.
He introduced Martha.
He had Dickens.
He had Shakespeare.
He reintroduced the Daleks.
He reintroduced the Cybermen.
He has funny ears.
He's Scottish.
________
All in all I think Christoher Eccleston and David Tennant are equal. They're both brilliant in their own way and made me a BIG fan of Doctor Who.
Next week, it's Rose Vs. Martha!

Ashes To Ashes

I have some news about the recently announced Life On Mars spin-off, Ashes To Ashes.

The new series, due to air next year, catches up with DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) and his faithful sidekicks Ray Carling (Dean Andrews) and Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster) - now a technological whizz-kid in the squad’s surveillance team.

However, Gene does not expect to be thrown together with sexy, intelligent, DCI Alex Drake. Single mother to daughter Molly, Alex has rapidly risen through the ranks of the Met and, in the modern world of 2008, skilfully uses psychological profiling to capture suspects.

When Alex and her daughter are kidnapped she makes a daring attempt at escape, resulting in a horrific accident. Alex finds herself in 1981 interacting with familiar characters, not just from her own life-time, but also from the detailed reports logged by none other than Sam Tyler, which Alex has previously spent months pouring over.

Alex is ripped from a world of sexual equality and respect in 2008 and finds herself opposite an arrogant fellow DCI in a Two Tone, New Romantic Eighties London with a soundtrack of Adam Ant, Roxy Music and The Human League ringing in her ears.

Frustrated by each other’s stubbornness, the friction between Alex and Gene heats up. However, as the two titans collide, it becomes apparent there is more than just a professional tension emerging.

Because most LoM fans are suffering from withdrawal, I think we'll need this!

Life To Ashes

Well I have finally got time to write about the last episode about Life On Mars. I didn't like it...

I LOVED IT!

It was the greatest finale ever. Even better than I thought. But although LoM is gone, Ashes To Ashes will come out of the... um... ashes! Join Gene Hunt as his new colleague Alex, a single mother, in the 1980s. I really can't wait. Just wait 'till Tuesday when I start suffering from Life On Mars withdrawal.

Have I got news for you!

Well, then. I divide all the news I have into handy little sections. Good ol' me :-)

  • Doctor Who Series 3 News: The upcoming episode of Doctor Who is called The Shakespeare Code. Look at my episode guide for it on the right to find out everything I know about it. Well, nearly everything.
  • Torchwood Series 2 News: Filming starts on the 30th of April. Episode 1 is rumoured to be called Fresh Start. Jack is rumoured to come back in episode 3. The Hub is getting a makeover, with a brand new Boardroom. Any ideas what it might look like, post in the comments section. Well, having it's windows blown out must have down a lot of damage to the inside as well. The 1st block is dirceted by Andy Goddard. John Barrowman will be signing TW audiobooks on Saturday 28th April, Border's bookstore, Oxford Circus, London. I'm a sctosman (like JB) so I can't make it. Will someone say how it goes?
  • The SJA Series News: SJA filming starts on April 16th. Alice Troughton will direct block 1. Kelsey will not be returning to the show but apparently they have a new team member...
  • Life On Mars News: OK, I've been a very bad Martian. I missed the last 2 episodes of LoM! But I'll be watching the last one because it sounds really good.
  • Site News: Because I only got 1 reply from my query thing, I'm going to keep the TWS2 episode guide.

Doing a Torchwood.

ITV has just announced that Primeval is to have it's own anagram spin-off, Limaperv! Promising to be an adult series, smll plot details have been released:

The latest sci-fi show Limaperv is currently in production. Abby leaves the team to go to Lima in Peru when she meets Claudia. Claudia has been hiding there, but they forget about that when they start to discover anomalies in Lima! Armed with only leather skin-tight costumes and atitude, will they save the city's citizens?

I hope you know this is an April's Fools joke. I sincerely hope that ITV will NOT make this!

New Features

Hi guys - I'm just writing to giver you the 911. Is that what they say?

Firstly, every Saturday there will be a new episode sypnosis posted on the episode guide. For example, on Doctor Who Saturday (the 31st), the sypnosis for Gridlock will be posted. And the week after, Daleks In Manhatten's will be posted.

Secondly, every Wednesday I will post a thing about "The Spin-Offs That Could've Been". This ranges from official BBC ideas to things I want to see. Expect this later.

Finally, my dad said he'd get me The Radio Tims so I'll write about that when he gets in.

See you later!

LOL

"Rose clambered in after Iris, subconsciously manoeuvring to block the Doctor’s view of her plastic-clad buttocks. She stumbled over the steps, her mouth dropping open as she took in the interior of the magnificent transcendent time machine.

‘So it’s just a bus?’ she said.

‘Just a bus?’ spluttered Iris. ‘I’ll have you know this is a fully functioning Time And Relative Dimension In Space craft. Type – oh, I forget. But it’s one of the better ones.’

‘But it’s the same size on the inside!’

‘Oh yes. It’s the latest thing you know. Dimensional transcendence is so passé.’

‘But it looks just like a bus! Where’s the console? The roundels? That bit that goes up and down when it takes off?’

‘The control console is ingeniously disguised as the dashboard and gears of your standard London double-decker. The time rotor is integrated into the rear engine of the craft. And there’s a roundel over there.’ She waved vaguely left.

‘That’s a washing machine.’

‘It’s round.’ "

That is one of the greatest bits of a fanfic I've read. To read the rest just click on the extract.

Poll

I have a dilemma. I have a Torchwood series 2 episode guide. Well, because there is hardly any information available about it right now, I think I should delete it then reinstate in a time were there is much more news.
But what do you think? Answers on a postcard (or in the comments section. You know, whatever...).

I'm on a roll......

WARNING! THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 6 OF PRIMEVAL!

This post is a little theory about the last episode of Primeval. You know, that dinosaur thing with iffy CGI that has mixed reviews. Well, in the last episode 1 guy goes to the past and when he comes back, his new love is missing. His wife stayed in the past. Now, what better way to stop your husband cheating on you than stop her from existing?

I shouted at my TV when I thought of this....

News

I just got this! According to Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) promises to "spice up" Doctor Who! Apparently Martha likes The Doctor but he does not return them (in that kind of way!). He probably just likes her as a close friend. Freema said "When Captain Jack turns up, it's hilarious! He hits on me and he's after The Doctor, too!" There was also an "innapropriate scene" filmed for The Shakespeare Code but it was cut by producers.

42

42 will be written by Chris Chibnall who has also wrote for Torchwood. Apparently, it has a spaceship and a sun being pulled into the sun with Martha and The Doctor along with it. Although I have found an interesting sypnosis by an anonymous person:

42 is named after the number of minutes the story takes: it's all in real time. The Doctor, Martha and their travelling companion (sorry, can't say more about that) arrive in a freighter that's heading for Mars. Straight for Mars - a saboteur on board is trying to prevent the ship's cargo from reaching its destination, and has locked the navigation computer onto a crash course. The Doctor has 42 minutes to avert disaster and uncover the enemy - while also having to deal with the consequences of what he did in 3.6, win Martha's friendship back, and deal with one of the ship's crew who bears a grudge against "the Doctor". After all, this crewman comes from Mars in the first place, and his race have history with the "last of the Time Lords"...

There is also speculation that the crew of Sanctuary Base 6 will be returning.

The Lazarus Experiment

Martha returns home as Russell T Davies's Doctor Who continues. Could this be the end of her travels with the Doctor? When she discovers her family is caught up in the scheming of Professor Lazarus and his Genetic Manipulation Device, it becomes a fight for survival, as human DNA twists into monstrous form.

David Tennant plays the Doctor and Freema Agyeman plays his companion Martha Jones. Thelma Barlow and Mark Gatiss guest star.
